Author Interview with Brian Fitzpatrick
Q: If you could have a fantasy pet, what would you have and why?
A: I’m an old school DnD player and a Pseudo-Dragon was the most desired familiar back in the day. Picture an adorable 3-foot fire-breathing dragon sitting on your shoulder and demanding cuddles. Perfection.
Q: What type of music best describes your writing style?
A: If Nine Inch Nails and the soundtrack to The Thing had a baby.
Q: Tell us about your writing office/space and why it’s special to you.
A: Interestingly, I have no office space. I have a laptop in the living room, and I write amongst the chaos of TV, people activity, and dog demands.
Q: What is the most challenging part of writing for you?
A: These days, it’s the time. I still have the day career, and finding time to write the amount I wish is a struggle. I’m grateful for the time I do get, though.
Q: If you didn’t write full-time what would your day job be?
A: Since I do have a day job already, if I could choose a career, it would definitely involve art and computers: animation, comics, etc.
Q: What is your writing schedule and how many projects do you juggle at once?
A: When I’m on a project, I write 2-3 hours daily, with occasional marathons of 10-12 hours on a Sunday. If I have an assignment, I only work on that one project. If I’m between assignments and working on my own stuff, I keep it to 2 projects at a time.
Q: How do you balance your outside life with your writing life?
A: The balance is very organic now after all this time. Organizing and separating it all has found a nice rhythm. I work, spend time with family, and write at the end of the day.
Q: What project are you most proud of right now?
A: The project I’m most proud of is my Mechcraft sci-fi franchise. This nanotech action story began as a screenplay and has grown into a bestselling novel trilogy, a published short story, had a song written and released about the villain, and is now getting a tabletop role-playing from Storytellers Forge. The screenplay is currently in the hands of a named producer in the hopes of turning this into film or a TV series.
Q: Do you have any new projects you would like to tell your fans about
A: In 2025, my fantasy adventure novel, To Slay a God, was released as part of a Dungeons & Dragons publication. I have a horror short story in the upcoming Blood Fiction v4 anthology. And game publisher, Storytellers Forge, is releasing To Slay a God as part of their new DnD campaign set in the afterlife world of The Black Ballad.
Q: Where can people find you on social media?
A: I’ve recently rebuilt my author website, and I love it: https://brianfitzpatrickwriter.com/
I can also be found on all the major socials:

Bio: Brian Fitzpatrick is the author of the bestselling science fiction trilogy, MECHCRAFT, the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy adventure novel, TO SLAY A GOD, and the co-screenwriter for the upcoming science fiction film, THE SIMIAN TRIALS.
Fitzpatrick’s writing journey began at the age of seven after accidentally watching the horror classic, Night of the Living Dead. After a week of nightmare-fueled sleep, his mother encouraged him to write a scary story of his own. He took her advice, put pen to paper, and has been creating tales of wonder and terror ever since.
Fitzpatrick grew up on Spielberg, Carpenter, Lucas, Cronenberg, King, Rice, Koontz, and Barker. Science fiction and horror are in his DNA.
He recently finished the final edit of a horror comedy feature script, EVERYDAY IS HALLOWEEN, which his manager is taking to market.
Currently, his projects include contracted work with Storyrocket converting client novels to screenplays, writing the novelization of his science fiction horror script, THE DARK BELOW, and creating a full course on proper pitching to help writers effectively communicate their stories to decision-makers.
Between writing commitments, Fitzpatrick engages with readers and writers as a panelist, a speaker, and workshop presenter at a variety of events both in person and online.
When not writing, he enjoys spending time with his family, watching movies and TV shows, reading, and cooking. And for his wife and him, coffee is their love language.
Fitzpatrick is repped by One Moorer Management, 6265979475, james@onemoorer.com.
